About the design
The concept of Annual Report 2020 is a celebration of Qatar’s first trade,
the Pearl. Before the discovery of oil and natural gas in Qatar, pearls
were the primary source of income for families. Times have changed, and
Qatar’s economy has diversified and no longer relies on pearl diving.
However, pearls are still collected from the region’s oyster beds, and
adventurous types can even dive for their own. Pearls also remain a
great source of intrigue, for their natural beauty as well as the important
role they have played in the region’s economy and heritage.
The QFC Regulatory Authority’s 2020 Annual Report celebrates the pearl
in its beauty and simplicity. Like the pearl, we believe Qatar’s economic
adaptiveness during 2020 is a testament to its resilience and persistence.
